The Knights of St Columba, Dagenham – Council 291 was erected in June 1935.
The Dagenham Council is one of the strongest Council in Province 10 Brentwood with the constituent of six parishes around the Council area – St Peters Catholic Church, Dagenham. The Council currently meets every second (2nd) Sundays of each month.
Other parishes are: Our lady of La’ Salatte Catholic Church, Rainham, Holy Family Catholic Church, Oxlow Lane, St Thomas More catholic Church, Longbridge Road, Barking.
The Council currently has 18 active members – with two Past Grand Knights and a thriving Council of Brothers who have demonstrated their love in service to church and humanity given their Three (3) Ts – Time, Talent and Treasure and services above self.
Knight’s activities undertaken by Brothers include participation in cleaning and preparing the Church for major feast days, serving the Church as Eucharistic Ministers, Lay Readers, organising activities for young people including competitions i.e.
- Youth Seminar
- Christmas and Easter Painting Competition,
- Adult and young people’s Quiz,
- Get together for young people and
- fund raising for the church and the Order etc.
